Inspired by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s call that “one day… the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood,” Coming to the Table, a program of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University, welcomes you to:
Creating New Legacies Inspired by the Dream
It will take place at Tougaloo College on January 30, 2010 and will focus on the shared legacies of slavery. It is a half-day event that will include sharing stories, facing history, making connections, healing trauma and taking action that leads to restoration in our communities.
Coming to the Table was founded by descendants of people who were linked by a slave/slaveholder relationship in partnership with the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding. The Center is internationally known for its work in conflict transformation and restorative justice.
